Taxpayers in Irvine Now Have a New Voice
February 1, 2018
Irvine, CA - A group of local business and community leaders have joined together to form the Irvine Taxpayers Association to promote accountable, effective, efficient and transparent government in the city of Irvine.
Irvine is widely recognized as one of the most desirable places to live and do business in. Recently ranked as the number one city in the nation for good fiscal health by the nonprofit group Truth in Accounting, the organization's goal is to protect what has made the city so successful while encouraging vibrant economic growth.
"As a twenty-year Irvine resident, homeowner, and taxpayer, I am honored to be able to work closely with other taxpayers and businesses in this amazing city," Carrie O'Malley, Chair of the newly created Irvine Taxpayers Association, said. "We are looking forward to advocating for prudent fiscal spending and tax policies that will continue to make Irvine such an incredible place to live and work."
The group was formed as a subsidiary of the Orange County Taxpayers Association (OCTax), a non-profit, non-partisan countywide taxpayer group that began in 1986 with a like-minded mission to ensure that taxes and tax-supported programs are fair, understandable, cost-effective and good for the economy.
Carolyn Cavecche, President and CEO of OCTax, said, "OCTax is excited for the opportunity to engage more closely on issues that are important to Irvine taxpayers through this new venture."
